Everyone has their own idea on how to be healthy. There are so many different variables: age, culture, gender, lifestyle and values. These all create different opinions on what health means. Health is unique to the individual. But sometimes, I feel like people become a little unhealthy about being healthy. Striving to do our best, we often get caught up, losing balance. I don’t believe that counting calories, or balancing ratios of protein, fats, or carbohydrates is healthy either. I think there needs to be a balance. It's okay to check in the macros and numbers sometimes for portion control, but not obsessively! It’s an unhealthy way to look at food. Food is so much more than a science, just as we are more complicated than a body.
In this day and age people are more like busy bubbles apposed to busy bees. We are all stressed about something, in a rush and in our own world. It’s not surprising to bump into a stranger on the street, because their eyes were glued to their phone. We are all busy – and we are all stressed.
People are so weird. When you watch a dog meet a stranger, they either like them or they don't. The just know. They have an instinct about the person and they trust it completely. People are funny in the way that we have completely disconnected from our gut instincts, our intuition.
Growth. This is actually all we are meant to do. To live, and to grow. To grow and to learn. To learn and to live. The cycle continues further and further as we age. We keep building, and making mistakes, and then learning, and then rebuilding some more.
It is incredible to think of where we have started from and where we already are. Take a moment to actually connect to how far you have come. Think about all the obstacles and times you have felt stress in such a state and worked your way through it. If you are still in it, trust the process that you will get out of it just like you did before.
